Nothing on this sheet is estimated or borrowed from a comparable product. A value appears only once Arabtech has confirmed it — data_confirmed gates the whole table. Until then the row states an em dash and says so.

Forms of internal separation

The single decision that changes the price, the width and the way the board can be maintained. Specify it explicitly — IEC 61439-2 makes the form a matter of agreement between manufacturer and user, not a default.

FormSeparation providedTerminals for external conductorsTypically specified for
Form 1None. One enclosed space containing busbars, functional units and terminals. In the common space, unseparated.Final distribution boards and small control panels that are isolated completely before any work.
Form 2aBusbars separated from the functional units. Not separated from the busbars.Sub-distribution where the busbar zone must stay covered while a device is changed on an isolated board.
Form 2bBusbars separated from the functional units.Separated from the busbars. The common minimum on Egyptian commercial projects — cables can be landed without opening the busbar chamber.
Form 3aBusbars separated from the functional units, and every functional unit separated from every other.Separated from the functional units, but sharing one cable space and not separated from the busbars.Boards where one outgoing way may be worked on while the rest stay energised.
Form 3bBusbars separated from the functional units, and every functional unit separated from every other.Separated from the busbars, in one common cable space.Hospital, bank and data main boards — the usual specified form where continuity of supply matters.
Form 4aFull separation: busbars from units, and every unit from every other, terminals included. In the same compartment as their own functional unit.Motor control centres where a starter and its cable are withdrawn together.
Form 4bFull separation: busbars from units, and every unit from every other, terminals included. In a separate enclosed compartment of their own, away from the functional unit.Critical MCCs and process plant — cables can be terminated or re-terminated without opening the unit that feeds them.

A higher form is not a higher safety rating. It does not raise the short-circuit withstand of the assembly and it is not a substitute for a safe system of work. What it changes is how much of the board has to be dead before someone can put a hand inside it. Where separation is provided, IEC 61439-2, 8.101 sets the minimum degree of protection between the separated spaces at IPXXB.

Standards and verification

What this family is built to, and which document proves it. Held means the certificate is on file and downloadable; pending means it has not been supplied yet.

The design-verification reports are the documents consultants ask for first. Arabtech does not currently publish IEC 61439 type-test or design-verification certificates. The row above is built and waiting: as soon as the reports and any ASTA / KEMA documentation are supplied they drop into the table and into Downloads with no further design work.
